Colleen Ganley is a developmental psychology professor at Florida State University and studies how and why children develop the way they do. Her Twitter personality somewhat reflects her research and the open mind she carries to each study and/or experiment. Recently, Ms. Ganley has been interacting with those doing research on math and how the setting in which someone takes a math exam or completes a math assignment could impact the grade they receive. Therefore, meaning that whether or not someone is good at math is not the main goal of the research study, but rather the affect the environment has on each individual. Colleen seems to approach the topic in a non-bias way even though she is well versed in math. This is a tactic that I have drawn from Colleen's Twitter that I will most likely utilize in the future when working with subjects. For example, even if I hold a different opinion on something or I happen to be biased, I will not bring that into the testing area or associate those ideas with my research. Ms. Ganley also discusses how she has recently taken her thoughts about her work and applied it to the outside world. I think that this is an important aspect of conducting research because you are essentially trying to see a certain event under a type of microscope while researching it and being able to relate that to external events is helpful in the long run. I would consider doing this in the future as it would allow me to draw multiple conclusions on certain subjects and could ultimately push me to create a more accurate study. The last technique that Colleen Ganley uses would be her use of humor. It is good to take the time to do experiments and research correctly and efficiently, but you must remember to keep your head high and have the ability to bounce back when an experiment or study does not go as you plan.
