Writing into the day - which was better?

One of the only books that comes to mind when thinking about a book that was not better than the movie is in the Twilight series and it happens to be the second book: New Moon. Honestly, I really enjoyed that series when I read it, but for some reason it took me forever to get through New Moon. I mean Edward, the main male character, was absent throughout most of the film and the other characters just couldn't fill his space in a fulfilling manner. This is not to discredit the series as a whole because I still consider it good. Twilight is more of a dessert book/series and it has many interesting visuals that lie within it. The majority of the visual stuff I'd say, was displayed during the last film, just because the most dynamic and diverse scenes were in it. Getting back to the point, New Moon: the book, was more boring than a stale cracker that's been in the pantry for 3 years. Not much substance in the text, but in film, wow. The actors and CGI makes it come to life in ways I couldn't see when reading the book. New Moon was apart of the series and although lacking substance in text, fit right in when transformed to the big screen.
